Supporting Survivors Fireside Chat – Part Two

Last week we shared our first in a series of fireside chat videos about our work and how we are addressing the challenges of COVID-19. This week we share video two.

The pandemic affects us all but has additional impacts on the health and safety of survivors.

Watch Part Two of our Fireside Chat Series with Elijah, Shannon, and Karen to learn more about why gender-based violence increases during times of distress, the impact on survivors, and how we are helping folks through this uncertain time.

(If you haven’t seen part one you can watch it here.)

Where ever you are in your healing journey, we are here for you.

Our counsellors and Support Workers are ready to provide essential support to survivors who need us now.

Our immediate crisis response, including medical exams and emotional support for recent survivors, continues to be available through the Sexual Assault Response Team. This program is offered at our Clinic away from emergency rooms. We provide non-judgmental support and options. We respect your confidentiality and choice at each step.

If you have been recently assaulted: Access our 24-hour Sexual Assault Response Team service by calling the Vancouver Island Crisis Line (1-888-494-3888) and requesting to speak to a VSAC Sexual Assault Support Worker.

Counselling and justice system assistance is being provided virtually and by phone. Call our Access Line (250-383-3232) or email to connect to these services.

For immediate emotional support call the Vancouver Island Crisis Line (1-888-494-3888) and/or if you have health concerns call HealthLink BC at 811 or your health care provider.
