Celebrating Our Reinstated Charitable Status: A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community
Dear Community,
We are thrilled to share that that Victoria Sexual Assault Centre has officially had its charitable status reinstated, and we are overjoyed to be able to continue our mission of making a positive impact in our community.
Our re-registration has been backdated to October 29, 2022, which is the date we lost charitable status due to an administrative error. This means we can resume providing charitable donation receipts and can provide donors receipts for donations made during the period of time that our status was revoked.
The Journey To Reinstatement
As many of you are aware, our organization faced setbacks that led to the temporary suspension of our charitable status. Over the past year we engaged in a long process of applying for reinstatement. This period was not without its difficulties, but thanks to your support and generosity, we were able to navigate this process successfully. Throughout this journey, we have been humbled and inspired by the outpouring of support from our community.
Here is what you can expect from us moving forward
We want to assure you that our commitment to our community remains unwavering. With our charitable status reinstated, we are now better equipped to continue our charitable activities, launch new initiatives, and make an even greater impact on the lives of those we serve.
If you are a one-time or annual donor:
- We have prioritized sending tax receipts for donations made in 2022. If you donated between the period of October 29, 2022- December 31, 2023, you should have received your tax receipt already. If you have not, please let us know and we will send you your receipt as soon as possible. You can contact us at 250-383-5545 or email us at and we will be more than happy to assist you
- We are currently working to send out receipts made in 2023 and plan to up-to-date with our mailing schedule in November, at which point we will go back to sending receipts on a monthly basis.
If you are a monthly donor:
- We have mailed and emailed all monthly donors a separate tax receipt for donations made in November and December 2022. A consolidated tax receipt for donations made in 2023 will be sent to you by the end of February 2024, in accordance Canadian Revenue Agency tax receipting deadlines.
- If you, paused your monthly donation we invite you to rejoin the monthly donor program. You can simply visit our website at https://www.vsac.ca/donate/ and when filling in the donation form, check the box beside “Make this a recurring gift” to set up your monthly contribution. Alternatively, you can contact our donor services team at 250-383-5545 ext. 118 or email us at and they will be more than happy to assist you with the process.
