Information for Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diverse Survivors

VSAC’s Stance

The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre (VSAC) strongly believes that in order to truly work to end gender based violence you must include all people affected by it. To reflect this belief, all of our services are open to all Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diverse survivors of sexualized violence. This explicitly includes all Trans women/Transfeminine survivors, all Trans men/Transmasculine survivors, all Two-Spirit survivors, and all other Gender Diverse survivors.

Crisis support, counselling, hospital/clinic/police accompaniment, victim services

All of VSAC’s services are open to all Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diverse survivors – and our individual crisis support services and sexual assault response team (SART) (which includes hospital, police, or clinic accompaniment) are open to all genders, including Cisgender men. For counselling and victim services Cisgender men will be referred to the Men’s Trauma Center.

Groups

Most of our survivors groups are mixed (meaning there will be Cisgender, Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diverse Survivors in attendance); however, when possible we do offer a group that is only for Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diverse survivors called “Foundations for Healing”. For more information about groups, call our service access line, 250-383-3232.

Washrooms and accessibility

Accessibility is an ongoing project at VSAC, and accessibility information about our current space can be found on our space and accessibility page. All washrooms at VSAC are single-stall and all-gender.
