Education Programs
At VSAC, our education programs are designed to create safer, consent-centered spaces in schools and community settings. Through free or donation-based workshops and trainings for youth, educators, and service providers, we center the voices of those impacted by sexualized violence and systemic inequities. Each session is rooted in respect, reflection, and a shared commitment to equity and inclusion.

The Black & Indigenous Empowerment (B.I.E) group builds on the work of Project Respect and the Black Youth Empowerment (B.Y.E) initiative, which centered Black youth in preventing teen dating violence through culturally relevant education and advocacy. Expanding this vision, B.I.E creates space for both Black and Indigenous youth to connect, lead, and support one another. Rooted in community and culture, the group empowers youth to grow as leaders, challenge systemic violence, and reimagine school environments that foster safety, accountability, consent, and belonging.

Evidence shows that the most significant factors for effective, long-term sexual violence prevention in youth are the confidence and skills of the adults they interact with every day. Using discussion, interactive activities and multimedia resources, our Safer Spaces workshop creates a comfortable space for adults who work with youth to build their confidence and develop their skills in modeling effective consent practices and supporting survivors of sexual assault, using trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches. Emphasis is placed on practicing self-care, creating space to ask questions and an opportunity to collaboratively problem solve unique challenges. Workshops are 120-minutes, are offered at a time convenient for the school and at no cost.
