Farewell VSAC,

After an incredible seven years with the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, I will be moving on from my position as Executive Director. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and community for your support during my time with the organization and for your contributions to ending sexualized violence and supporting survivors. It has been a privilege to support VSAC’s mission and the people who show up every day with compassion and dedication for this work

Looking back, I am struck by what we have achieved together. Including the dramatic reduction of our waitlist, the 10th anniversary of our sexual assault clinic, and support of the kʷəné ŋətəl iʔ iʔsaət Indigenous Response Network and Black and Indigenous Empowerment youth initiative. Not to mention hundreds of school and community workshops and thousands of survivors supported. As VSAC’s first Executive Director of colour, I am proud to have woven my own experience into the tapestry that is VSAC’s history, and I know the organization will continue to grow, change, and make significant impacts on the community and beyond.

I am pleased to pass the role of Executive Director on to someone who shares my enthusiasm for supporting this incredible organization and team. I wish everyone the very best on VSAC’s next chapter.

Thank you,

Samantha Loppie
