About Us
The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre (VSAC) is a feminist organization committed to ending sexualized violence through healing, education, and prevention. We support women and all trans survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse through advocacy, counselling, and empowerment.
The Role
We are seeking new Board Directors who are committed to supporting VSAC’s work.
To reflect the diversity of the community we serve, we aim for the Board to include voices from historically and persistently underrepresented and marginalized communities.
We especially encourage applications from:
Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour

LGBQ+ individuals
Two-Spirit, Trans, and Gender-Diverse persons
We also welcome applicants with the skills and knowledge to engage respectfully and supportively with diverse communities.

What to Expect as a Board Member
Serve a two-year term as a Board Director
Commit approximately 3–4 hours per week
Attend monthly Board meetings (1.5 hours)
Participate in one Board committee: Finance, People & Culture, or Governance & Recruitment
Board members also:
Support and guide the Executive Director
Uphold equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies
Contribute to strategic planning and governance
Approve budgets and financial statements
Support fundraising and financial sustainability
Build strong relationships and mentor new Board members
Fulfill obligations under VSAC’s constitution and by-laws
What You Bring
Understanding of VSAC’s mission, values, beliefs, and goals
Knowledge of the root causes of sexualized violence
Ability to work within anti-oppressive, decolonizing, and EDI frameworks
Understanding of Board governance (or willingness to learn)
Experience building community through networking
Strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Diplomacy and collaboration skills
Ideal Experience (Assets)
Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
Justice / Legal
Finance or Accounting
Anti-racism
Strategic Planning
Organizational Development and Governance

Committee volunteers:
