Volunteer & Staff Spotlight: Welcoming a New Member to the VSAC Team

We’re excited to welcome Abhee Senthilkumaran (she/her/hers) to the VSAC team as our new Accounting & Executive Assistant!

Abhee recently completed her undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of Victoria, where her studies went beyond numbers and economics. Much of her coursework explored gender inequalities and class-based disparities, with a particular interest in the experiences of South Asian women.

Originally from Dubai, UAE, and of Sri Lankan and Indian heritage, Abhee has called Victoria home for the past four years. Now, as she begins this next chapter after university, she’s excited to bring her skills, curiosity, and values to VSAC.

Why VSAC?

For Abhee, joining VSAC was about finding an organization whose values genuinely resonated with her.

“I was interested in joining VSAC because I wanted to work for an organization whose values I deeply respect and resonate with,” she says. “Their commitment to helping survivors by fostering a safe environment, and their wonderful staff and volunteer members, are things I have the privilege to work alongside.”

In her new role, Abhee will provide accounting and executive administrative support, contributing to the behind-the-scenes work that helps VSAC continue to support survivors and the community.

Getting to Know Abhee

There’s more to Abhee than economics and numbers.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking, and baking. She’s currently reading Sula by Toni Morrison, so fellow book lovers already have an easy conversation starter!

After spending the past four years studying in Victoria, Abhee is looking forward to getting to know the people who make up the VSAC community and learning how she can best support the team.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning what I can do to support the team!”

Welcome to VSAC, Abhee! We’re so glad to have you with us.
