The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre (VSAC) is seeking a Victim Service Worker (Temporary) to join our Direct Client Services team. This short-term position provides coverage during a leave and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors while working alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team.

About the Position

Position: Victim Service Worker (Temporary) – Justice

Location: Victoria, BC (Hybrid)

Hours: 14 hours per week

Salary: $42.47/hour (BCGEU Grid Level 14, Step 1)

Start Date: Immediate

End Date: October 16, 2026

This is a short-term backfill position expected to conclude on October 16, 2026.


About the Role

As a Victim Service Worker, you will provide trauma-informed support, advocacy, information, and referrals to women, Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender-Diverse survivors of sexualized violence who are navigating the criminal justice system.


Working under the Manager of Direct Client Services, you will help survivors:

  • Understand their options within the criminal justice system.

  • Access police, court, Crown Counsel, and community resources.

  • Develop and maintain safety plans.

  • Prepare for and attend justice-related appointments.

  • Access victim compensation programs and complete Victim Impact Statements.

  • Build confidence, autonomy, and informed decision-making throughout their healing journey.


The role also includes collaboration with community partners, including law enforcement, Crown Counsel, Forensic Nurse Examiners, hospitals, and other victim service organizations to ensure survivors receive coordinated, survivor-centred support.


Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who brings both professional expertise and a deep commitment to survivor-centred, anti-oppressive practice.


Ideal candidates will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in criminology, counselling, social work, or equivalent education and experience.

  • Training and experience in victim services and the criminal justice system.

  • Experience supporting survivors of sexualized violence, including adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

  • Strong communication, advocacy, crisis intervention, and organizational skills.

  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.


Experience with provincial Victim Services training is considered an asset.
